My Final Documentary Idea
School trips
Basic idea and information
My
project is all about school trips and what they add to a child's educational journey
through school. Through interviews, anecdotes and visuals, I want to help
inform the demographic within the documentary what benefits they can receive from
taking into consideration the amount and variety of school trips they get from different
schools and colleges. I wish for my
documentary to be very informative and partly poetic showing, through visuals,
the impact that school trips can have on the youth. Overall, I want my
documentary to be objective, giving a balanced view on the topic.
The angle I am going for with my documentary is to educate and encourage more exciting and influential trips for the youth.
Overall, I want the documentary to be as objective as possible with giving facts and figures as to why school trips are good but also allowing there to fault with funding and concerns. I want it to be a balanced argument where both sides are heard but guide it towards encouraging the trips and concluding they are beneficial myself at the end of the documentary. The film may be quite long due to the questions asked wanting the interviewees to go into detail with their answers to provide as much information as possible.
I will include facts from some of the websites researched from such as costs for the trips and quotes about the benefits of going on school trips. The rest of the research will be for expanding my knowledge on the subject to help with the questions I ask the interviewees and trips administrator at Bracknell and Wokingham College.
Most of the B-roll footage will be the outside of the schools close by due to the circumstances regarding COVID-19 and the fillers will have to be footage from other countries filmed outside of the quarantine.

- I emailed an administrator at a college for her opinions on trips and she said this "I think the trips are designed to reinforce the lessons in the classroom, but personally I think the student benefits because a change of atmosphere and scene makes learning fun." https://www.nationaljusticemuseum.org.uk/school-trip-benefits-sen-students/
